Fire On The Mountain Buffalo Wings

Four out of six piggies on July, 2008.

Overall Impression...
Wing-a-Ding-Ding!

Meats...
Okay, Fire On The Mountain is not barbecue in the strictest sense. The meats are not smoked, but the flavors are reminiscent of barbecue.

The specialty is chicken wings, smothered in your choice of sauce. They are crispy, tender and delicious. Fish & chips, corn "dawgs", sandwiches, and vegetarian options are available.

Vegetarian friendly.

Sides...
The tater tots are crispy and delicious. Other sides include onion rings, fries, sweet potato fries, salads, and (bizarre but good) fried pickles.

Sauces...
Pepper hounds will not be disappointed. There are 12 sauces to choose from, including two flavors that rotate monthly. They range from "Mild" to the murderously hot "El-Jefe". The more exotic ones include the delicious "Bourbon Chipotle", "Raspberry Habanero", and "Spicy Peanut". The "Sweet BBQ" sauce is yummy!

Portions...
A standard plate is six chicken wings. You can order multiples of six with different sauces then split them among as many people as you wish, so the portion size is up to you. The large tater tots is enough to feed an army.

Service...
It's pretty much self serve. You order at the counter, then get a number.

Cost...

Moderate. Six wings are $6.95. Sandwiches are about $8.

Atmosphere...
Crowded and loud. The music adds to the cacophany, and the wood floors just bounce the sound around. There are a few interesting paintings on the walls, and the restaurant is moderately lit. Outdoor seating is available.

Pros...
Fun, tasty food. 12 sauces to play with.

Cons...
It's chicken wings! Next to the beak and feathers, it's the least edible part of the bird.
