Four out of six piggies on Jan, 2009.
Overall Impression...
Impressive. Both flavorful and balanced.
Meats...
The brisket is slightly dry and chewy, like most, but still tasty. The pulled pork was tender and delicious and comes on a little bun with a toothpick, like a tiny sandwich from heaven. My favorite was the pork spare ribs. Tender, juicy, and delicious, they are probably the best I've eaten. For those who like a little chewiness to their bbq, the bark is firm but still tender. Where the ribs succeeded, the sausage failed. It had a strange sweetness that I found unappetizing. All the meats are nicely smoky. BBQ chicken is also on the menu. Keep an eye on the specials. I had amazing smoked pork chops with barbeque apple sauce. Mmmmm....
Sides...
The delicious collard greens are perfectly cooked with the addition of a little bit of pulled pork and red pepper flakes. The baked beans are more like BBQ beans--not too sweet, a little spicy, and a little smoky. Cole slaw, mac & cheese, and buttermilk biscuit are also on the menu.
Sauces...
Slabtown has three mild, well-balanced sauces. The Kansas City Classic is only slightly sweet, the Texas Hot is the same except for the addition of a very little spice, and the Carolina Style Mustard sauce is slightly sweet and tangy. Not that it's needed, but try the mustard sauce with the ribs or the sausage. Bottled hot sauce is also on the table.
Portions...
Ample. You won't walk away hungry.
Service...
Warm and professional. Please tip appropriately.
Cost...
Reasonable. Sandwiches are $6 to $8.50, and come with one side. The Texas Plate is $12. It's both brisket and sausage and comes with two sides. The waist-expanding BBQ Combo is $16, is brisket, ribs, pork spare ribs, and sausage, and comes with two sides. It's enough for two, or plenty for one reviewer who skipped breakfast.
Atmosphere...
Hole in the wall. A smoker sits out front. Tiny tables and plain, somewhat uncomfortable chairs completely occupy the space. Ribbons and posters decorate the oddly-colored walls.
Pros...
Delicious, well-balanced BBQ and sides.
Cons...
Not the most comfortable space, but you'll be too busy licking sauce off your fingers to notice. Strange sausage.

I just discovered this place and I found it because I followed the delicious smell of bbq right to Slabtown's doors. The food is amazing and I can't wait to go there again!
